Trading 212 was founded in Sofia in 2004 and is now headquartered in London. It operates through entities regulated by the FCA in the UK, CySEC in Cyprus, BaFin in Germany, ASIC in Australia and the FSC in Bulgaria.
The broker charges no commission on real stocks and ETFs, offers fractional shares from €1 and pays daily interest on uninvested cash. Its AutoInvest Pies make regular investing simple. The product range is focused: there are no bonds, mutual funds, options or futures, and research tools are basic.
Simplified summary. See Trading 212's fee page for current pricing. As of Sep 2026.
Buying and selling real stocks and ETFs carries no commission. The main cost is the 0.15% currency conversion fee, which applies when you buy an asset priced in a currency other than your account currency. The multi-currency account lets you hold several currencies and avoid repeated conversions.
Deposits and withdrawals are free. The one exception is a 0.7% fee on card and e-wallet deposits once the total exceeds €2,000, so larger amounts are best sent by bank transfer. Spot crypto trades cost 0.30% of the trade value.
Trading 212 is regulated in five jurisdictions, including by the FCA, and client assets are held separately from company funds. The level of investor protection depends on the entity that holds your account. UK clients are covered by the FSCS, while clients of the Cyprus entity are covered by the Investor Compensation Fund up to €20,000. Some entities offer additional private insurance.
The company is not publicly listed, does not hold a banking licence and does not publish detailed financial results. For most retail portfolios this is an acceptable trade-off, but investors with large balances should understand which protection applies to them.
Registration is fully digital and usually verified within one business day. You provide personal and tax details, choose an Invest account or, in the UK, a Stocks and Shares ISA, and upload proof of identity and address. The minimum deposit is €10 or £10.
Joint and corporate accounts are not available.
You can fund the account by bank transfer, card, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay and several local payment methods. Twelve base currencies are supported. Card withdrawals typically arrive within one business day, and many users report instant transfers to accounts such as Revolut.
Trading 212 is built around its mobile app, which is fast, clearly designed and easy to use. It supports biometric and two-step login, price alerts and the main order types. The web platform offers the same core features in a browser, with a clean layout and clear fee reports.

Charts and workspaces cannot be customised, there is no downloadable desktop application and trailing stop orders are not available. Active traders may find this limiting.
Uninvested cash earns interest daily, with no minimum balance and no premium tier. Rates differ by currency and by the entity holding your account, and they change with central bank rates. When the feature is enabled, cash is placed in qualifying money market funds and with partner banks.
The offer covers around 11,000 stocks and ETFs across 16 markets, US extended-hours trading and spot crypto. Bonds, mutual funds, options and futures are not available. CFDs are offered through a separate account and carry a high risk of loss, so beginners should use the Invest account.
Live chat and email support are available 24 hours a day and responses to simple questions are quick. There is no phone line, which makes complex issues slower to resolve.
A demo account, platform tutorials and written guides cover the basics well. There are no live webinars and little in-depth research, so experienced investors will need other sources for company analysis.
These are the strengths and weak points that matter most in day-to-day use.
The ease of trading can encourage frequent buying and selling. Long-term investors are better served by automating contributions through Pies and checking the portfolio less often.
Trading 212 offers commission-free investing, strong regulation and an app that makes regular investing straightforward. For a first investment account in Europe or the UK, it is one of the clearest recommendations available. Investors who later need options, bonds or deeper research can add a second broker alongside it.
